Body in Motion keeps you going
If you have suffered a workplace or sporting injury, are recovering from surgery or regularly get back, neck or leg pain then Hervey Bay’s newest physiotherapy clinic Body In Motion will get you going again.
Physiotherapist Blair Middlemiss boasts a decade of professional experience and is excited to have started his own family-run practice in the Liuzzi Street Professional Centre at Pialba.
With its great central location and easy off-street parking, Body in Motion Physiotherapy offers physiotherapy services for a vast array of problems and injuries and they offer home visits and after-hours appointments to suit their clients’ busy lifestyles.
The clinic offers 30 minute appointment times and accepts referrals from doctors, specialists or other health care providers for DVA card holders, private health insurance, Workcover claims and Medicare E.P.C programmes which are bulk billed for your convenience.
“In most cases you can simply walk in off the street with no referral necessary and we are happy to offer same-day appointments,” Blair said.
Blair began working in private practice clinics in New Zealand before making the move over to Hervey Bay in 2010 with his family.
Over the years he has been the team physiotherapist for many sporting teams including the Thames Valley Rugby team in the New Zealand provincial rugby
championship and various other soccer and rugby 7’s teams.
He has completed post graduate training in the McKenzie method for the treatment of spinal conditions as well as attending a diverse range of other
physiotherapy-related courses enabling him to provide the most up to date, effective treatments to his patients.
Outside of the clinic Blair enjoys spending time with his wife Erin, his two daughters and currently plays rugby union for the Fraser Coast Mariners.
Body in Motion treats a variety of conditions from lower back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, wrist, hand, ankle and foot pain, osteoarthritis, growing pains in children, pre and post operative rehabilitation and workplace injuries, conducts mobility assessments, sports injuries and neurological rehabilitation.
“The region’s combination of elderly retirees and young families involved in sport means there is a constant demand for physiotherapists.
“We love Hervey Bay and have helped achieve a dream of opening our own physiotherapy clinic thanks to the support of the local community.
“I feel privileged to be able to work in such a wonderful place in a profession I love.”
The clinic also sells a range of aids, braces, sporting tape and wheat bags and offers a pension concession rate. HICAPS is also available for on the spot rebates for private health fund clients.
Body in Motion also has a Referral Reward Programme in place where patients can refer friends and receive a discount off their next treatment.

Owner of Body in Motion Physiotherapy Hervey Bay, Blair Middlemiss.
Physiotherapist celebrating his first month in business
Hannah Busch
HERVEY Bay's Body In Motion Physiotherapy owner Blair Middlemiss spent years as
a physiotherapist hoping to open his own practice.
His new business is now celebrating its first month since opening its
doors.
"It had always been in the back of my mind," Mr Middlemiss said.
"I started seriously thinking about it at the start of last year."
The new practice is based in Liuzzi St, an area fast becoming a medical care
hub with an orthopaedic surgeon and dentist also based there.
Mr Middlemiss said it had only taken about three months to get from concept
to opening date, including two weeks of painting and building.
He said business had been growing over the first four weeks as new and old
clients learnt of his new location.
"Before Christmas was obviously a fairly tough time," he said.
Mr Middlemiss said he hoped to begin employing a second physiotherapist
within the next year.
The business focuses on hands-on manual therapy.
The region's combination of elderly retirees and young families involved in
sport meant a constant demand for physiotherapists, he said.
Mr Middlemiss has been a physiotherapist for the past decade and has spent
the past three years in Hervey Bay.
And his advice for other potential business owners?
"Just do it," he said.
"Don't dwell on it too long
"You could put it off for years."
